JJ had a personality that was larger than life and was friendly, outgoing, naturally curious and loved learning.  JJ was always finding a way to brighten the day of everyone around him despite the challenges he faced.  He was often affectionately referred to as an “old soul."

JJ was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Tommy G. Gary and paternal grandfather, Warren D. Peterson.

JJ is survived by his parents, Jason and Jennifer Peterson of Strasburg, VA; his sisters Baylee Peterson of Strasburg, VA and Brittany Peterson (Jacob) of Hedgesville, WV; his maternal grandmother, Joyce Gary of Strasburg; his paternal grandparents Ken and Donna Walker of Manassas, VA.
