Jimmy L. Henderson

NEW CASTLE – Jimmy Larry “Jim” Henderson, 74, passed away April 19, 2025 in Lewis Gale Medical Center.

Jim was born in Staunton on March 12, 1951 and was a son of the late Lynwood C. “Woody” Henderson and Ruth (Masincup) Henderson. He graduated from Riverheads High School. After earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Virginia Tech, Jim taught in public schools in Virginia and North Carolina, operated greenhouses and was a lifelong farmer. Jim loved his students, and his family, both human and the furry ones.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harry Lee Henderson.

Surviving are one brother, Chesley Henderson and his wife Wenda of Staunton; niece Mary J. Henderson; nephews Ken, Dale, and Michael Henderson; plus great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held in Green Hill Cemetery.
