Jerry Pence
Jerry Lee Pence, 86, of Waynesboro, VA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 1, 2026 at Regency Assisted Living in Fishersville, VA. He was born on December 28, 1939, in Greenville, WV. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Reo and Elizabeth Garvin Pence.
Jerry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose steady presence, strong work ethic, and generous heart left a lasting mark on all who knew him.
Born in Greenville, WV, Jerry carried the values of small-town life with him throughout his years — faith, hard work, humility, and love of family. Whether on the job, at church, or at home, Jerry lived with integrity and quiet strength. He was known for his dedication to his work at Hollister Inc., his commitment to his community with decades of work with the Stuarts Draft Ruritan Club and leadership roles on the Augusta Expo Board. Most of all he will be remembered for his deep devotion to his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of over 65 years, Jane Baker Pence; his sons, Chuck Pence and his wife, Lisa, and Doug Pence and his wife, Tammy; his granddaughters, Sydney Gleason and her husband, Codie, and Erica Fox and her husband, Mike; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Henry Fox, Hazel Fox, Camryn Gleason, and Hollis Fox. He is also survived by his brothers, Jimmy and Ronnie Pence and his sister, Bonnie Keller. Each of them was a source of immense pride and joy in his life.
A service to celebrate Jerry’s life will be held at 11am on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Lyndhurst Faith & Fellowship Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Jerry’s legacy of faith, hard work, and unwavering love for his family will live on in the lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
