Janie Lee Sites

Janie Lee Sites, age 85, of Petersburg, WV went to her heavenly father on January 27, 2024 at E. A. Hawse Health Care Center in Baker, WV.   She was born on October 2, 1938, the daughter of the late Samuel Calvin and Lena Jane (Kesner) Cox, and the last surviving member of her immediate family.  On March 29, 1957 she married Johnny Marlin Sites who preceded her in death on November 27, 2023.
Ms. Sites attended school in Landes, WV and was a faithful member of the North Mill Creek Baptist Church.  Janie was a homemaker who took pride in raising her family and working on the family farm while her husband worked in the city.   She loved teaching Sunday School, working on the kitchen committee and cooking for friends and family.  Janie was generous with her time and talents, making sure everyone had enough to eat and plenty of loving care to share with all who knew her.
Janie leaves behind to cherish her memories: 2 daughters, Rosa Crites (David) of Durgon, WV; Teresa Thorn (Robert) of Mercersburg, PA; 2 sons, Chris Sites (Debra) of Moorefield, WV; Kevin Sites (Claire) of Halethorpe, MD; 15 Grandchildren; 17 Great-Grandchildren; 5 Great-Great-Grandchildren; special caretakers, Laura Simmons of Petersburg, WV; granddaughter, Tonya Sites of Moorefield, WV and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: a son, Johnny Marlin Sites, Jr., a sister, Norma Swick; and a brother, Raymond Cox.
Ms. Site’s family will receive friends on Thursday, February 1, 2024, 11-1 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV.  Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Steve Davis officiating.  Interment will be at the North Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.   Memorials may be made to the family c/o Basagic Funeral Home POB 400 Petersburg, WV 26847.  Memories and words of comfort may be left at www.basagic.com or on Facebook at Basagic Funeral Home.
