James Maynard Moran, 79, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025, at Augusta Health in Fishersville.He was born on December 28, 1945, in Stuarts Draft to the late Herbert Maynard and Sadie Bell Campbell Moran.James was a man of simple pleasures. He found immense joy in fishing, often spending time on the water. His passion for the outdoors was complemented by his enthusiasm for NASCAR racing, which he enjoyed watching tirelessly.His humor was a gift he generously shared, making him a beloved figure among family and friends. James had a unique gift for telling jokes that kept those around him laughing. His ability to lighten the mood made him a cherished presence in everyone’s life.Beyond his hobbies, James was a faithful member to his church, Ridgeview Baptist Church in Stuarts Draft.He is survived by his son, Larry Maynard Moran and his wife, Cheri; his daughters, Tracy Ann Moran Coffey and her husband, Hank and Melissa Diane Moran Vanicek and her husband, Richard; his brother, Herman Dale Moran; his sisters, Janet Elaine Moran and Paula Faye Moran Bruce and her husband, Victor; his grandchildren, Hank Coffey, II., and his wife, Jody, Patrick Vanicek, Christopher Vanicek, Whitney Moran, Emily Moran, and Alana Moran; his great-grandchildren, Dakota Kyger, Clinton and Weston Coffey, Addiley Moran, and Addiley Moran; his great-great grandchildren, Nolan Vanicek and Zamari Henderson; his lifetime friend, David Leroy Cave; and his beloved pet, Sybil.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Lois Ellen Bryant Moran; and his brothers, Calvin Wayne, Jimmy Franklin, Sr., and Ronald “John” Lee Moran.The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Henry Funeral Home, in Staunton.A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Henry Funeral Home, in Staunton, with Pastor Don McClure officiating.Interment will follow at Augusta Memorial Park, in Waynesboro.Serving as active pallbearers will be Patrick Vanicek, Christopher Vanicek, Lawrence Henderson, Ralph Martin, Colton Showalter, and Dakota Kyger.Honorary pallbearers will be family and friends in attendance.Memorial donations may be made to the Stuarts Draft Rescue Squad (10 Manor Road, Stuarts Draft, VA, 24477) or https://donate.stripe.com/9AQ29W1RC1S70gM144Arrangements are being handled by Henry Funeral Home.
