James "Jimmy" Edward Callison

May 8, 1940 - August 17, 2024

James Edward “Jimmy” Callison, Sr., 84, husband of Loretta Ann (Riley) Callison of Swoope, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2024 at his residence.
     Mr. Callison was born on May 8, 1940 in Staunton, a son of the late John Walker and Lillie Harriett (Tinsley) Callison.
     Jimmy was a member of the Lighthouse Church and was retired from Southern Electric as the Warehouse Manager.
     In addition to his parents, Mr. Callison was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Johnny Callison; four sisters, Shirley Snow, Ella Bennett, Deanna Weaver and Dorothy Craig.
     Surviving in addition to his wife of  58 years is a son, James Edward “Jimbo” Callison, Jr. and wife Melissa of Staunton; three daughters, Kim Deaver and husband Jeff of Swoope, Pam Cox and husband Doug of Staunton, and Sherry Grantham and husband Larry of Daleville, Alabama; a sister, Annie (Callison) Sheets of Fishersville; seven grandchildren, Kari Hildebrand and husband Robbie, Eric Deaver, Ryan Cox and wife Amy, Joshua Grantham and wife Jenna, Cody Grantham and wife Rebekah, Benjamin Callison, Andrew Callison and wife Madison; twelve great-grandchildren, Jeffery and Erika Hildebrand, Caleb and Jackson Deaver, Brystol, Bryer, and Barrett Cox, Cooper, Lynlee, Waylon, Willow and Waverly Grantham; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
    The family will receive friends from 5:00 til 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and the residence at other times.
    A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Mr. Eric Wade.
    Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
    Active pallbearers will be Jeff Deaver, Larry Grantham, Doug Cox, Eric Deaver, Caleb Deaver, Jeffery Hildebrand, Ryan Cox, Joshua Grantham, and Andrew Callison.
    Honorary pallbearers will be Cody Grantham and Benjamin Callison.
     The family wishes to express a sincere “Thank You” to Dr. Rob Marsh and his associates for the compassion and care given to Mr. Callison and family during his illness.
