James Edward Perry
James Edward Perry of Mt. Crawford, VA, passed after a long illness on March 12th, 2025. He passed peacefully at home, surrounded by family.
"Jimmy" as he was known to family and friends, was a graduate of Harrisonburg High School, where he played football, and earned his Diesel Mechanics certificate at Massanutten Vocational. Jimmy worked diligently for over two decades alongside his Father Charles at Valley Blox, where he gained a reputation as an exceptional mechanic on all manner of trucks, cars and equipment.
Shortly after leaving Valley Blox, he founded Perry Trucking, Inc. and provided dump truck services and aggregate hauling for numerous vendors and customers. Jimmy could be seen daily traveling the roads with his sidekick, a Female Boston Terrier named "Cookie." He was an avid outdoorsman, and a Member of the Lazy 8 Hunt Club of Fulks Run, VA. He also enjoyed Fishing, Camping and Bluegrass Festivals in the company of his family and friends.
Jimmy is survived by his loving parents Charles "Bud" and Patricia S. Perry of Harrisonburg, and a sister Linda Powell of Salisbury, NC, two sons, Jason Perry of Grottoes and Brandon Perry of Mt. Crawford, who provided steadfast care to his father in his final years. Jimmy also leaves behind a daughter-in-law, Tricia, three grandchildren, Braedon, Eva and Myra, and two nieces, Heather and Tiffany, along with numerous cousins, great nieces, and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12 until 1 PM on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Grottoes. A funeral service will begin at 1 PM with Pastors Jared Link and Lauren Eanes officiating. Burial will follow at 3 PM at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg.
