James David Puffenbarger
James David "Puff" Puffenbarger, of Mt. Crawford, went to be with the Lord on November 20, 2023, at the age of 65.
David was born in Leonardtown, MD, on March 1, 1958 to the late Ralph V. and Mary A. Puffenbarger. He was a graduate of Turner Ashby High School class of 1976 where he loved playing football. Prior to going to work full-time at the family business, David worked for the City of Harrisonburg for 10 years where he was known as "Sugar Bear".
As a second generation owner/operator of See-Mor Truck Tops and Customs, David made a significant impact on the lives of countless individuals. His commitment to excellence, integrity, and customer satisfaction led to the expansion of the business from Mt. Crawford to Ruckersville. He knew the business belonged to the Lord and that he would always provide, which gained him the respect and admiration of his peers and customers alike.
David loved the Lord with all his heart, and cherished his family above all else. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Vickie Puffenbarger, who stood by his side throughout their incredible journey together. His children, Jack Puffenbarger and wife, Jess, Maude Rexrode and husband, Benny, and Grace Atkins and husband, Brandon, were a joy of his life, but his greatest joy were his grandchildren, Ava, Jace, Gabe, Vaiden, Chloe, Abigail, and Emmy Jo. His beloved companion, Frankie, and brother-in-law, Phillip Driver also survive.
In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Lou Driver.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate David's life and honor his memory. A public visitation will be held from 6 until 8 PM on Friday, November 24, 2023, at Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Grottoes. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, November 25th at 2 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery in Mt. Sidney.
