Harry Bagnell
Harry James Bagnell, Jr. 85, of Strasburg, VA passed away Sunday, May 5, 2024, at The Maynard in Strasburg, VA.
Mr. Bagnell was born in Fishers Hill, VA on November 24, 1938, a son of the late Harry James and Doris Emma Bauserman Bagnell, Sr. He was a master’s graduate of Virginia Tech and worked for Shenandoah County Public Schools, as an administrator, teacher, and coach, for over 38 years. Mr. Bagnell was an avid supporter of vocational education and the FFA. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army having obtained the rank of Captain. Mr. Bagnell was a member of the Emmanuel Church at Fishers Hill where he taught Sunday school for many years and was preceded in death by a brother Roland Bagnell.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Sandy Bagnell of Strasburg, VA; his children J.D. Bagnell (Andrea) of Pittsburgh, PA, Zane Bagnell (Billie Jo) of Inwood, WV, and Chanda Greco (Nick) of Strasburg, VA; his grandchildren Brooke Bagnell, Michael Bagnell, Kiana Bagnell, Haleigh Bagnell, Makayla Bagnell, Camille Greco, and Chase Greco; sister-in-law Sarah Bagnell of Strasburg, VA; nieces and nephews Dennis Bagnell, Debbie Nixon, Brian Fisher, Jeff Fisher, and Kimberly Miller along with numerous great nieces and great nephews.
A funeral service for Mr. Bagnell will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2024 at Stover Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Locke officiating. Burial will follow in Fishers Hill Cemetery with military honors conducted by Shenandoah American Legion Post 77, Strasburg, VA.
Pallbearers will be Brian Fisher, Jeff Fisher, Joel Morgan, Kevin Cooper, Jeff Smoot, and Dave Sunder-Rao.
Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Proctor, Danny Wymer, Millson French, and Ronnie Roller.
The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home and Crematory on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m.
