Grover C. Marcum
CHURCHVILLE – Grover Cleveland “Junior” Marcum, Jr., 88, passed away Sunday (August 25, 2024) in the Shenandoah House of Augusta Health.
Born August 31, 1935 in Bath County, he was a son of the late Grover Cleveland Marcum, Sr. and Rhoda (Salmons) Marcum Dotson.
Junior served in the Army National Guard as a young man. He had a long and successful career as a block and brick mason.
In his younger years, he enjoyed nothing more than having family and friends over for his famous chicken barbeques. He also loved to participate in a game of cards with the guys.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, William Lloyd Marcum; and siblings Effie Florence, Elizabeth, Fred, Delphie, Bill, Lucy, Bob, Howard, Rene, Harrison and Lilly Jane.
Surviving are three children, Debra, Rhoda and her husband Roger, and Douglas; granddaughter Peri; and great-grandson Knox. Also, a long-time best friend, Anita.
He thought the world of his family. He loved every one of them. He has many nieces and nephews, and friends whom he loved very much as well.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 31 in Thornrose Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Fred Salmons.
