Georgie Eugene Watts

Georgie Eugene Watts, 92, widower of Alice Kay (Mayers) Watts, of Swoope, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
     Mr. Watts was born on July 31, 1932 in Burkettsville, Maryland, a son of the late George Watts and Ruth (Younkins) Leffler.
    Eugene was a member of Hebron Presbyterian Church, and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was the owner of Time and Control Company and a homebuilder. Eugene served on the Baltimore Police Department and was a member of the Gideons. He loved spending time with his family and friends and enjoyed horses, horseback riding, and watching old westerns. Eugene never met a stranger and was always ready to share his faith with anyone.
    In addition to his wife of 56 years and his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by a step-father, Ralph Leffler.
     Surviving are three sons, Kevin D. Watts and wife Pam Eavers-Watts of Swoope, Dr. Keith E. Watts and Dr. Gabriela Pozzi of Grand Rapids, MI and Kent D. Watts and wife Kathy of Swoope; a daughter, Kim D. Watts of Manakin Sabot, VA; a special daughter, Gretchen Curreri; a brother, John Watts and his wife Darlene; a sister, Betty Lee Armentrout and her husband Jesse; seven grandchildren, Daniel P. Watts, Carmen W. Green and husband Andrew, Austin Watts, Erica Watts, Eric Watts, Chad Watts, and Caleb Watts and three great grandchildren, Brailyn Green, Brody Green, and Noah Watts. 
    The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
    A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 5, 2024 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Eddie Deane.
    Burial will follow in the Hebron Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
    Active pallbearers will be Keith Watts, Andrew Green, Austin Watts, Caleb Watts, Eric Watts, Ron Peyton, Don Peyton, and Jared Shetterly.
    Honorary pallbearers will be Brody Green and Chad Watts.
    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105
