George Thomas Reed

George Thomas Reed, Jr., affectionately known as “DJ Master G”, departed this life on Saturday, March 2, 2024 in Rockford, Illinois.
He was born April 11, 1954 in Staunton, Virginia to George T. Reed, Sr. and Rosa Smith Reed.
During his youth, he was a member of Mt. Salem Baptist Church and attended Staunton Public Schools, where his love for music begun.  He played the drums in the Lee High School band.   Music remained a passion of his life as he dedicated himself to his craft as “DJ” providing musical entertainment for many events over four decades!  He served in the U.S.  Army, and after his military service, George made Rockford his home.
George was preceded in death by his father and his brother, Kenneth Reed.  He is survived by his beloved mother, Rosa Reed, and sister Karen Reed of Midlothian, VA.  He also leaves behind a legacy through his three children:  daughters, Ebony and Ariana of Rockford, IL and son, Mario of Adelphia, Arkansas. Additionally, George leaves grandchildren, numerous relatives and friends who will cherish his memory. 
In the rhythm of his music and the beat of his life, George Thomas Reed, Jr., touched the hearts of many, leaving behind a rich legacy that will endure through the melodies he spun and the memories he created.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on March 27, 2024 at 11:00am at the Veteran Memorial Hall, Rockford, IL.  
Private interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Staunton, VA.
