George Lee Graham

George L. Graham, 95, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, November 21, 2024.

George and his twin brother, Henry, were born September 19, 1929 in Rural Retreat, Va to Olive Delp Graham and Charles P. Graham. They moved to Bridgewater as young boys and graduated from Bridgewater High School together. George went on to Bridgewater College where he excelled on the debate team. He married his high school sweetheart, Doris Jean Phillips in 1953. They lived in Arlington, Va for 66 years before permanently returning to their beloved farm in Spring Creek. He enjoyed a 42 year career as a State Farm agent with advanced degrees in insurance of CPCU and CLU. He was instrumental in establishing a local and later a national association of agents. He was well known in his church and community as hard working and a friendly conversationalist. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Phillips Graham and daughter, Gwen Graham, his twin brother, Henry B Graham and wife Dorice, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Hale, Ray, Bruce and sisters, Charlotte Gamer and Virginia Gentry.

A funeral service will be held at 1PM, Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Mossy Creek Presbyterian Church, with Rev. James Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
