Geoffrey Lawrence
Geoffrey Francis Lawrence, a true gentleman and beloved “gentle giant,” passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at the age of 85. His wife of nearly 60 years, Carolyn, was by his side.
Born in Washington, D.C., and raised on a farm in St. Mary’s County, Maryland, Geoff was class president and star member of the basketball team at Ryken High School. He continued playing basketball at Washington College, served as a member of Theta Chi fraternity and earned a degree in psychology. He also completed six years of service with the Maryland Army National Guard. For more than 40 years, Geoff owned a successful business, leading with integrity and a strong work ethic.
Geoff was known for his gift of gab, wit, humility, and kindness. He loved watching the Washington Redskins and Bullets, playing tennis, reciting trivia, drawing cartoons, and tinkering on the piano. He will be remembered for his unique sandwich creations and his deep appreciation for pink lemonade and Hostess cupcakes. His presence was gentle but unforgettable, and his legacy lives on in the stories and laughter he leaves behind.
Geoff was a proud father to three daughters: Kimberly Allison (Mike), Pamela Lawrence (Bob Nealon), and Karen Swanson (Chuck). He was also a cherished grandfather to seven grandchildren: Zachary (Kaitlyn), Samuel, Hannah, Olivia, Walker, Luke, and Lillian.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Mildred Lawrence and his brother, Jack. He is survived by his sister, Elaine Kerr, his sister-in-law, Suzanne Lawrence, and his loving family.
A celebration of life will be held in his honor at a later date.
