Genevieve Rager

Genevieve Rager, 92 of Front Royal, VA passed away Thursday, August 29, 2024, at the Hidden Springs Senior Living in Bentonville, VA. 

Mrs. Rager was born in Hardy, WV on August 25, 1932, a daughter of the late Joseph H. and Hazel Wilkins Hamman.  She was an active member of the Strasburg United Methodist Church for over 60 years.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Richard Eldridge Rager and siblings Lee Hamman, Alvin Hamman, Juanita Himelright, Wilma Ryman, Gladys Garrett, and Lilly Zirkle.

Survivors include two daughters Karen Brown (Pete Robison) of Sterling, VA , Sandra K. McGeehan (Robert) of  Olney, MD; three grandchildren Leslie Anne Grant of Annapolis, MD, Robert J. McGeehan, III of Frederick, MD, Shannon Katherine Buck of Silver Springs, MD; four great grandchildren Molly O’Connel McGeehan, Kate O’Connel McGeehan, Michael O’Connel McGeehan, Jake Buck, her brother  Gene Hamman of Fort Valley, VA; nephews Frank Zirkle, Jr. (Icelee), Leo Ryman (Gloria) and a niece Joyce Ann French.      

A funeral service for Mrs. Rager will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2024, at the Strasburg United Methodist Church with Rev. John Haynes, Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow in Panorama Memorial Gardens, Strasburg.  

The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening.  

Pallbearers will be Pete Robison, Frank Zirkle Jr., Gene Hamman, Jack Ginsburg and Jeffery Ritenour.
