Garry Fitzgerald

Garry Lane Fitzgerald, 76, of Lyndhurst, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at his home. He was born in Charlottesville on March 31, 1947, a son of the late Eldon and Blanche Fitzgerald.

Garry graduated from Nelson County High School. He retired in 2011 from GE as an electrician after 40 years of service. Garry loved working on his beautiful flower garden beds and vegetable garden. He was an avid nature lover and enjoyed being outside; watching and listening to the birds. Garry enjoyed cheering on his favorite wrestlers. Most importantly, Garry loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Garry was preceded in death by his brothers, Mark and Bobby Fitzgerald and his sister, Joyce Taylor.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 55 years, Belinda Fitzgerald; children, Troy Fitzgerald and wife, Kelly and Jennifer Fitzgerald and partner, JB Broughman; grandchildren: Aaron Fitzgerald and wife, Morgan, Austin Sanchez and wife, Morgan, Jaelyn Terrell and partner, Blake Carter, and Alexis Terrell; great grandchildren: Jensen and River Fitzgerald, Walker Brooks, Gabe and Asher Sanchez, and Madilynn Carter (soon to be born in April); sisters-in-law, Ruth and Cora Fitzgerald; brothers-in-law: Forest and Ken Bryant and Russ Arthur; special friends: Woodrow Abshire, Eddie Hughes, and Carroll Bradley; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Per Garry’s wishes, all services will be private. The family will receive family and friends at the Garry and Belinda’s home in Lyndhurst.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Augusta Health and the staff with the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah for their loving care of Garry and his family.
