Garland Franklin Dean

Garland Franklin Dean, 82, of McGaheysville, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

He was born on July 30, 1943, and was a son of the late Theodore R. Dean and Beulah (Ashenfelter) Dean.

Garland had worked as a carpenter for Nielsen Construction before retiring in 2008. Garland was united in marriage to Faye Dean, who survives.

He was an avid member of Grottoes Church of the Brethren.

Garland is survived by two children, Lisa (Nathan) Hill and Shawn Dean; two grandchildren, Cameron Hill and Logan Hill.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter "Fuzzy" Dean, Carl Lee Dean; five sisters, Thelma Bell, Margaret Hawse, Mary Sipes, Helen Weese, Frances Allen.

Friends and family may visit the funeral home between 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, on Friday, March 06, 2026, to pay their respects and sign the book.
