Fern Hook
Fern Hook, 85, of Paw Paw, West Virginia departed this life on Monday, April 15, 2024 surrounded by her family at her home.
She was born July 28, 1938 at Bethel (Hampshire County) and was the daughter of the late Deskin Woodrow Abe, Sr. and Alma Opal Kidwell Abe.
In her younger years, she worked in the apple orchards in Levels, WV. She was a homemaker and devoted mother. Mrs. Hook enjoyed farming, nature walks in the woods, gardening, crocheting, flowers, birds, the piano, painting, Scrabble, playing cards, and most of all having her grandchildren and other family members around her. She was a member of the Woodrow Union Church.
On December 1, 1958, she married Donald Hook, who survives. They were the third generation to be married on that date.

Many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly
And a grand pup, Oliver, who snuggled next to her on the couch while she watched her birds and drank her coffee in the morning.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sue Mae; one brother, Deskin Abe, Jr., and a son-in-law, David Leach.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM Thursday, April 18 at Woodrow Union Church where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday with Pastor Ken Burkhart and Pastor Nathan Travis officiating.
Interment will be at Woodrow Cemetery.
Kent Abe, Kevin Dunn, Matthew Riggleman, Michael Houle and Nick Crites will serve as her pallbearers.
All are invited to join the family for a meal and time of fellowship at the church following the interment.
