Esther Lee Armstrong

January 4, 1934 - September 8, 2025

WYTHEVILLE – Esther “Lee” (Huff) Armstrong, 91, of Wytheville, passed away Monday (September 8, 2025) in The Legacy at North Augusta.

She was born on January 4, 1934 in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, and was a daughter of the late Lester Lloyd Huff and Emma Mae (Beard) Huff. She graduated from Dunsmore Business College and was employed by Smith’s Transfer for a number of years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who absolutely loved being involved in the lives of her family, and she was also a true friend to many beyond her own family. Lee was also known to be enthusiastic about every aspect of lawn care.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Taylor Armstrong Jr.; three sisters, Ruth Janka, Sue Ballard and JoAnn Nicely; and a brother, Richard Huff. Surviving are two children, Sherry Lynne Armstrong of Stuarts Draft and Stephen Taylor Armstrong (wife Katherine) of New Bern, N.C.; a brother and sister, William Huff and Phyllis Taylor (husband C. P.), both of White Sulphur Springs; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Anne Hepler, Michael Lee Hepler, Lauren Michelle Clark (husband Michael) and Stephen Taylor Armstrong Jr.; two great-grandchildren, William Boyd Clark and Vivian Katherine Clark; and a number of very special nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, September 13 in the chapel of Bear Funeral Home, officiated by Chaplain Daniel Hess. Burial will follow in Deerfield Community Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service, beginning at 11 a.m.
