Elvin "Buddy" H. Fitzgerald

Elvin “Buddy” Herbert Fitzgerald, 89, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at Augusta Health in Fishersville.He was born on January 28, 1935, in Rockbridge County to the late Paulus Massie and Maybell Inez Grant Fitzgerald.Elvin was a dedicated factory worker for many years of his life working for Reeves where he was known for his strong work ethic. He was a devoted NASCAR fan with Joey Logano being his all-time favorite driver. His family was the center of his life, and his most cherished times were spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a true outdoorsman that found great joy in spending time in the mountains. His dog, Ace was his loyal companion, and they enjoyed many adventures together along the way.He is survived by his son, Mike Elvin Fitzgerald and his special friend, Karen Ashby of Greenville; his daughter, Kathy Fitzgerald Shifflett and her husband, Jeff, of Stuarts Draft; his brother, Paulus Duaine Fitgerald and his wife Susan; his sisters, Peggy Jane Fitzgerald Lowdermilk and her husband, David and Maxine Joyce Fitzgerald Campbell; his nine grandchildren, Christopher Bradley and his wife, Kim, Wesley Bradley and his wife, Theresa, Ashley Schiano Moriello and her husband, Biagio, Corey Goff, Travis Shifflett and his wife, Shannon, Erica Cash and her husband, Robbie, Dustin Goff, and Cody, Andrew and Dalton Fitzgerald.He is also survived by his nine great-grandchildren, Taylor, Morgan, and Colten Bradley, Alisa and Paula Bradley, Gianluca, Liliana, and Lorenzo Schiano Moriello, Brecken Cash, Michael Colinayo and Matthew Goff.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughters, Barbara Ann Fitzgerald Goff and Deborah Kay Fitzgerald Bradley and their mother Shirley Lorraine Farris Fitzgerald.A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 1, 2024, at Mount Paran Baptist Church Cemetery in Montebello, VA. with Pastor Billy Coffey officiating.
