Edna Anderson

Edna E. Anderson, 89, of Winchester, VA passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center, Winchester, VA.

Mrs. Anderson was born in Stephens City, VA on December 28, 1934, a daughter of the late Elmer F. and Grace Beatty Evans.  She was a graduate of James Wood High School and a member of the Ridings Chapel United Methodist Church.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jack McDonald Anderson, and siblings Katheryn Evans, Thelma Gruver, and Robert “Bob” Evans. 

Survivors include her daughter Diane L. Ellis-Parente (Art) of Maurertown, VA; her granddaughter Alicia Welch of Stephens City, VA; her great-grandson Benjamin Welch; stepchildren Susan Wills of Rupert, WV and Sherry Whitacre (Daniel) of Winchester; her brother Tom Evans (Golda) of Middletown, VA along with several nieces, nephews. 

A funeral service for Mrs. Anderson will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Ridings Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Andy Brock officiating.  Burial will follow in the Ridings Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.   The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Active pallbearers will be Benjamin Welch, Guy T. Gruver, Michael Evans, Shawn Smith, Harry Ziegler, and Little Bobby Gruver.

The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to Ridings Chapel UMC, Cemetery Fund or Blue Ridge Hospice.
