E. Dale Rexrode
E. Dale Rexrode, 92, of Waynesboro, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at Augusta Health. He was born in Highland County on March 17, 1933, a son of the late Ira W. and Maggie J. Rexrode.
E. Dale graduated from Highland County High School and attended Dunsmore Business College and Bridgewater College. He completed an apprenticeship program for machinist through DuPont and later retiring from them after many years of service. Through this career E. Dale began a legacy of his grandson and great grandson following in his footsteps of being a machinist. E. Dale began his second career building new homes and renovating older homes.
He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War and then served in the Army Reserves until 1961. He served as Commander of the V.F.W. in Monterey, VA and was a long time member of Glovier Memorial United Methodist Church. His hobbies included buying and selling cars and restoring old tractors, and meeting with his boys for coffee at McDonalds.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his five brothers, Thomas, Samuel, Douglas, Robert and Elbert and one sister, Eva.
He is survived by two daughter, Linda Rexrode of Stuarts Draft and Nan Rexrode Foster of Augusta County; son, Alan Rexrode and wife, Penny Lilly Rexrode of Stuarts Draft; sister, Louise Rexrode of Florida; seven grandchildren: Kelley Hartman Coffey and husband, Bruce, Steven Hartman and wife, Jamie Brown, Christopher Foster, Amanda Rexrode Clements and husband, Chuck Clements, Amber Rexrode Hall and husband, Dee Hall, Dawn Rexrode Turner and husband, Derek Turner, and Lucas Rexrode ; 11 great grandchildren: Mason, Emberly, Ashlynn, Kipton, Kaden, Elijah, Kasey, Dawson, Corbin, Piper, and Collins; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. He spent many happy and active years with his dear friend, Jean Wine.
A memorial service with military honors will be conducted at 1pm on Friday, February 13, 2026 at Glovier Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastor Dr. Bill Jones officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6pm until 8pm on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home.
