Doyle Long

Doyle Long, 94, of Bridgewater, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.

He was born on October 1, 1931, and was a son of the late Joseph Cloyd and Cora Viola (Smiley) Long.

Doyle had worked at Celenese, Southern States, labored for a local brick mason, and Holly Farms prior to his retirement. He served his country in the US Air Force from 1951-54. Doyle loved the outdoors, especially in warmer weather when he could work in his garden. In his earlier years he enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles.

Doyle is survived by his sister, Janet Long; nephew, Kevin Long (who he helped raise from birth); numerous other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters, Cleta Howdyshell, Maxine Click, and Pearl Metz; and a brother, Arnold Long.

A graveside service celebrating Doyle's life will be held 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 11, 2026 at Cedar Hill Cemetery with Pastor Billy Curry officiating.

Friends may pay their respects and sign the register book at Johnson Funeral & Cremation Service in Bridgewater on Friday and Saturday.
