Douglas "Doug" Ray Malcolm

August 9, 1967 - February 16, 2025

Douglas Ray Malcolm, 57, of Staunton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family and friends on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Doug was born in Staunton, Virginia on August 9, 1967, to the late Sam Malcolm and Diane (McDorman) Malcolm White.
Doug attended Church Without Walls and New Covenant Church.  He loved his church family and loved the Lord.  One of his favorite things was to listen to the love of his life, Ronda, sing on Sunday mornings.  He enjoyed fishing and traveling.  He loved meeting new people and was always interested in their “stories”. But mostly, he loved riding his Harley, and was a full-fledged Harley guy.  He loved people and always will be remembered for his big smile and sense of humor.  He was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and had a very generous heart.  He enjoyed camping and loved spending time with his camping family and was affectionately known as “Slug”.  He enjoyed spending the summers at “Casa de Fifth Wheel” at Sun Retreats.
Doug was employed by Target Distribution Center for 29 years as an Industrial Mechanic.
He is survived by his soul mate, Ronda Malcolm, who was his riding partner, his traveling partner, and his “pack a bag” companion.  He is also survived by his son, Dalton Malcolm; his step-daughter, Megan Swisher (Olen); his grandchildren, Wyatt Shomo, Weston Shomo, Mackenzie Shomo, Kailyn Swisher & Jayce Swisher, which he affectionately referred to as “The 5 Star Storm”; his sister, Sheila Malcolm Rose; his cousin/sister, Mary Moomaw (Kevin); his best friend, Tim Galford, who has been by his side during this journey over the last year; his sister and brother-in-law, Teresa & Tommy Hurlock, who he accompanied on many adventures including riding out a hurricane and exploring Yellowstone; brother and sister-in-law, Steve & Patsy Giles; and his beloved cat, Cinnabun.  He is also survived by numerous cousins and a niece.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastors Theresa Moore and Trey Hensley. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.
Special thanks to the Sun Retreats Crew for being there 100% and showing him the love of a true family.  We don’t know what we would have done without your love and support over the last year. Also, a special thanks to Church Without Walls and New Covenant Church for their diligent prayers and support. Thank you to the nurses and doctors at the UVA Cancer Center and the 3S – Oncology floor for your excellent care.
In lieu of flowers, Doug has requested that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee  38105-1942, a charity near and dear to his heart.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
