Doris Wood Sandridge
Doris W. Sandridge, 83, of Waynesboro, VA passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024. Born July 30, 1941, she was the daughter of James Irvin and Ruth Wood of Ivy, Va.
Doris attended Albemarle High School where she was a cheerleader. There she met Myrle, who was on the football team. They graduated in 1958, and later married spending 50 years together. Doris worked at Greenbrier Elementary and Walker Middle School before retiring from Charlottesville City Schools after 31 years. Doris never met a stranger, and until her last days, she loved knowing what was going on in the lives of those she had in school and her friends and family.
She is survived by sons, Bayne Sandridge and Bryan Sandridge; daughter Kelly Sandridge and husband Andy Miller; grandsons Andrew Via and Matthew Sandridge; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Myrle, sister Betty Alexander, and grandson Michael Sandridge.
Doris is also survived by her husband of three years, Rodney Bradt, and his sons, daughter, grandchildren, and extended family. She felt blessed to have found Rodney, who was with her through her final days.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 8 at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, White Hall, VA with Rev. Bill Jones officiating. A celebration of life will also be held at Summit Square in Waynesboro where Doris and Rodney lived on Saturday, August 10 at 2 p.m.
