Donald Lester Sheffer

Donald Lester Sheffer, 84, of Bridgewater, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024 at Sentara RMH Medical Center.

He was born on January 7, 1940, and was a son of the late John and Nellie (Wine) Sheffer.

Donnie retired from Tyco Electronics in 2001 and later enjoyed working at Sharp Shopper in Harrisonburg. He was a devoted member of Montezuma Church of the Brethren, a passionate New York Yankees fan, loved NASCAR, and his time spent hunting. His love for good food and sharing meals with loved ones reflected his warm spirit.

Donnie was united in marriage on Oct. 10, 1960 to Doris (Ringgold) Sheffer, who preceded him in death on April 4, 2003.

Donnie is survived by four children, Denny (Randi) Sheffer, Terry (Amy) Sheffer, Keith Sheffer, and Randy (Michele) Sheffer; brothers, Roy Sheffer, Gene (Joyce) Sheffer, and Clifford (Judy) Sheffer; eleven grandchildren, Skylar (Christian) Sheffer, Darrin (Heather) Sheffer, Cole Sheffer, Matthew Sheffer, Jonathan Sheffer, Sydney Sheffer, Trey Sheffer, Hannah Sheffer, Addie Sheffer, Adrienne Sheffer, and Gabriel Sheffer, three great grandchildren, Soren Sheffer, Hadley Sheffer, and the light of his life, Colten Foschini; best friend, Charlie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, John, Harvey, Jim, and Wilmer Sheffer; sisters, Lucille Pick, and Mary Morris.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM on Friday, Dec. 20, 2024, at Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Bridgewater.

A service celebrating Donald's life will be held on December 21st at 11 AM at Montezuma Church of the Brethren, with Pastor Terri Luzynski officiating. Burial will follow at Beaver Creek Church Cemetery.
