Delcie Hamman

March 9, 1936 - October 21, 2025

Delcie May Lowery Hamman, age 89, of Stephens City, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, surrounded by her children.

Mrs. Hamman was born on March 09, 1936, to the late John Edward and Olgie Henrietta Lowery. She was a homemaker, a foster parent for many years and a care giver for anyone that needed her. She loved singing and was a founding member with her husband of both The Johnson Ramblers and The Glory Road Singers. Both groups were formed with dear friends of the family. She truly loved singing Gospel and spreading God’s love through song and music. Throughout her life she sang in nursing homes, churches and anywhere that she could. She especially loved singing in her home church with her family. She enjoyed the occasional jam session at home as well. Delcie was a long-standing member of Meadow Mills Church of the Brethren in Middletown, VA. It was there that she was baptized, raised her 7 children to love the Lord and she held numerous positions. Her church was like a second family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Grayson Hamman, Sr, her daughter, Sandra Poling and her brother Richard Lowery.

To know Delcie was to truly love her, she never met a stranger. She prayed daily for her family and friends. Her Bible was always open and laying on the table at her seat. She shared and showed her love for God daily.

Delcie is survived by her children Johnny Hamman, Sr (Cindi) of Bunker Hill, Connie Smoke (David) of Frederick County,  Deborah Teets (Michael) of Stephens City, Gracie Westfall (Bobby) of Strasburg,  Caroline Higdon (daughter Cadence) of Stephens City,  Grayson Hamman, Jr. (Sierra) of Frederick County; her sister Daisy Baker of Lakeland, FL and 16 grandchildren and numerous Great and Great-Great Grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Meadow Mills Church of the Brethren on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 11 a.m. with a meal to follow.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to either Stover Funeral Home or Meadow Mills Church.

You may submit your condolences online at www.stoverfuneralhome.com.
