CHURCHVILLE – Frances Darlene (Losh) Simmons, 68, of Churchville, went to be with the Lord Saturday, February 15, 2025.

She was born December 16, 1956 in West Augusta to the late Charles L. “Red” Losh and Evelyn (Graham) Losh.

Darlene was a 1977 graduate of Buffalo Gap High School and completed the commercial food service program at Valley Vocational Tech Center. Known to many for her love of country cooking, she worked locally at the Buckhorn Inn, Carpenter’s Convenience & Restaurant, Churchville IGA and Mountain View General Store. She was a member of West Augusta United Methodist Church. She enjoyed being “Grammy” to many farm animals, and was especially fond of her cat “Punkie.”

In 1979 she met the love of her life, her late husband Charles Darrell Simmons, who died February 10, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Mary Ellen Price.

She is survived by her only son, Robert Darrell Simmons of Millboro; two devoted “brothers,” Allan Losh and wife Paige, and Charles Losh and wife Susan, all of Churchville; and nephews Logan, Colton and Michael Losh.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 18 in West Augusta Cemetery where she will be laid to rest by her husband’s side. And at her request, pallbearers will be the six most important people to her: son Robert, brothers Charles and Allan, and nephews Logan, Colton and Michael.

The family will receive friends at Bear Funeral Home from 12 - 1 p.m. on Tuesday before a procession to West Augusta Cemetery for the graveside service.

Memorials may be made to local animal shelters or to West Augusta Cemetery.
