Daniel Abshire

Daniel Stanley “Pappy” Abshire 82, of Crimora, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Camp Creek, WV, on April 17, 1943, a son of the late Luther and Beulah Abshire.

Daniel worked at DuPont until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of First Christian Church in Waynesboro. His hobbies included gardening, tending to his chickens, and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, his brother-in-law, and his grandson.

Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Donna Abshire, who he married on August 30, 1964. He is also survived by his children: Teena Hall, Doug Abshire, Donetta Boothe, Jarrod Abshire, Philip Hall, Gretchen Abshire, Patrick Boothe, and Pam Abshire; eight grandchildren: Justena, Hunter, Sammantha, Tucker, Carlee, Emileann, Micah, and Jacob; eight great grandchildren; siblings, Hellen “Sis” Parr and Freddy Abshire; special friend, Jason Dunn; as well as extended family and friends.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2pm on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Augusta Memorial Park with Rev. Dale Wood officiating. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery.

There will be no public viewing or visitation at the funeral home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Charlton and Groome Funeral Home.
