Curtis Van Updike
Curtis Van Updike, 57, of Timberville, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024.
He was born on December 18, 1966, and was a son of the late Jesse Ken Updike and Betty Mae (Smith) Updike.
Curtis worked as an I.T. Systems Analyst at Sentara Healthcare Human Resources Dept. He graduated from Broadway High School in 1985. He obtained his journeyman electrician's license and transitioned to computer technology.
He was currently employed in the Support Information Systems department as an Information Security Analyst for Sentara Health. A lifetime Miami Dolphins fan, he loved playing sports such as Tennis, Pickleball, and fishing.
Curtis is survived by four brothers, Teddy (Denise) Updike, of Richmond, Mark (Sharon) Updike, of Broadway, Justin Updike, of Harrisonburg, Kevin (Lisa) Updike, of Dayton; nieces and nephews; Jonathan Updike, Ariel Updike, DaVinci Updike, Crystal Updike-Stuhlmiller, Landen (Grace) Stuhlmiller, Zackariah Stuhlmiller, Aaron Updike, Michael (Megan) Updike, Lyric (Mason) Updike, Anna Updike; great-nephews; Kamon Updike and Kai Updike; great-niece, Alisha Coverstone; step great-nephew, Jaiden Cox and Nick Cox; numerous great-great nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
A memorial service will be held at 1PM, on Friday, November 22, 2024 at Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Bridgewater. A reception will follow at Dayton United Methodist Church fellowship hall.
