Colleen Maria Ballard

CHURCHVILLE – Colleen Maria (Rojas) Ballard, 64, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

Colleen was born in Grenada, West Indies on October 15, 1961 and was a daughter of the late Frank Rojas and Marie (Gillezeau) Rojas.

Colleen married her high school sweetheart, Boris Ballard, on October 11, 1986. They spent their early years together in New York City, and relocated to Churchville in 1994.

Colleen was a wildlife rehabilitator for the Wildlife Center of Virginia for many years. She also operated a private wildlife rehabilitation program from her home, with a focus on nurturing animals of the rabies vector species. She enjoyed many pets over the years as well. Colleen was employed as a cake decorator in the bakery department of Walmart in Staunton.

Surviving in addition to her husband Boris are a brother, Don Rojas (wife Karen) of California; a sister, Erica Burnett-Biscombe (husband Anthony) of Dominica, West Indies; and many extended family members.
