Charles Flory Driver

June 30, 1943 - December 28, 2025

Charles Flory Driver, 82, husband of Patricia Jane  (Courtney) Driver, of Staunton, passed away on Sunday, December 28th, 2025 at the Shenandoah Hospice House in Fishersville.
Mr. Driver was born on his homeplace in Augusta County, Virginia on June 30th, 1943, a son of the late Rufus Oscar Driver and Minnie Myers (Flory) Driver.
Charles was a loving husband and devoted father. Patsy was the love of Charles’s life. Charles and Patsy met in their junior year of high school and were married two years later in a blizzard on December 9th, 1961. In their 64 years together, they welcomed their two girls, Lisa and Kimberly. Together they enjoyed camping, trips to Tennessee and California, and drives through the mountain. Most important to Charles was his family- whether caring for parents, aunts, or in-laws, or attending every (yes EVERY) single grandchild’s school event, game, match, or 4-H showing, nothing could stop Charles from being there. Charles’ care for others was not limited to family- woodsplitting, mowing, shoveling or lending a strong back, arms, and will to anyone in need, all without asking.
Charles graduated from Wilson Memorial High School, class of 1961. He retired from Dupont as a Powerhouse Operator. He was a faithful member of Crossroads Baptist Church and in earlier years, was a faithful member of Barren Ridge Church of the Brethren and Middle River Church of the Brethren. Charles had a passion for farming and hunting. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the National Coon Hunters Association.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Driver was preceded in death by a sister, Mabel Catherine (Driver) Flora; and a son-in-law, Gregory Alan Meadows.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 64 years, are two daughters, Lisa Renee (Driver) Milo and her husband, Stephan of Mint Spring and Kimberly Dawn (Driver) Meadows of Fort Defiance; a brother, Robert Allen Driver and his wife, Nancy of Bridgewater; seven grandchildren, Libby Dukes and her husband John, Rachel Milo, Jessica Milo, Charles Gabriel Milo, Charles Chase Meadows and his wife, Sara, Tyler Meadows and his wife Jessica, and Zach Meadows and his wife, Jordan; nine great-grandchildren, Isaac Dukes, Thomas Dukes, Katherine Dukes, Gus Meadows, Charlotte Meadows, Noah Meadows, Shaw Meadows, Wren Meadows, and Kate Meadows; he is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews and a special friend, Val Gochenour.
Also, we wish to extend a special thanks to Shenandoah Hospice House, Hospice of the Piedmont, and Bonnie Craig.
