Carri Casserino
Carri Nelson Casserino 1962-2024
Carri Nelson Casserino, 61, of Middletown, VA went home to her Lord Jesus on August 6th, 2024. She was born in Wheaton, MN to James and Carolyn Nelson, having two younger siblings, Karen and Timothy. Carri studied Communications at Plattsburgh State University, NY. Following a childhood love of literature, she regularly wrote poems since age 12, culminating in a published poetry anthology in 2019 entitled A Life in Verse.
Carri moved frequently throughout her life, first with her parents and later with her husband, John, who served 25 years in the Air Force. She loved the moving challenges and was always active in her many church communities, leading prayer groups, bible studies, and service groups. A lover of history and genealogy, she was a leader in the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the National Society of The Colonial Dames of America, serving a term each as Ketoctin DAR chapter regent and Colonial Dames chapter regent.
Carri believed her greatest achievement was raising her three children to love and serve Jesus. She also gave them a love for knowledge by homeschooling them for many years. Her eldest, Jacob, now serves in the US Army’s Medical Services Corps at Fort Belvoir, VA. Her daughter, Anna, is an active member of her church and works in Arlington, VA. Her youngest, Ethan, serves the city of Washington DC in emergency management. She is also survived by her loving husband of 35 years, John Casserino, her mother Carolyn Lancaster, her sister Karen Heidorn, and her brother Timothy Nelson.
A memorial service will be held at Virginia Hills Church in Front Royal, VA on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.. The family asks in place of flowers that donations may be sent to one of the following organizations:
