Caroline B. Kite

Caroline Faye Benson Kite, 81, a beloved wife and mother, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at King's Daughters Community Health and Rehabilitation Center in Staunton. She was born on October 21, 1942, in Staunton, to the late Hansford "Bill" Clyde and Elsie Mae Brooks Benson.Caroline's passion for caregiving blossomed early on, leading her to pursue a career in nursing. She graduated from Wilson Memorial High School in Fishersville in 1961 and went on to become an LPN at King's Daughters Hospital in Staunton and Augusta Health in Fishersville. For forty-two years, Caroline dedicated herself to providing comfort, compassion, and kindness to all those under her care.Beyond her professional life, Caroline found joy in a variety of interests. She had a deep love for baseball and could often be found cheering on her favorite teams at sporting events. She and her husband's adventurous spirits led them to frequent trips to Big Meadows and other spots within the Shenandoah National Park where they enjoyed picnicking and hiking amidst the beauty of nature. Additionally, she cherished the community spirit of the Fourth of July celebrations at Gypsy Hill Park in Staunton.She is survived by her loving husband of an impressive sixty-one years, Robert "Bobby" Lewis Kite and her beloved son, Stephen Kite. Throughout the last years of her life, Stephen was her devoted and loving caretaker. Additionally, she is survived by her sister-in-law, Linda Cole, of Churchville. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Carl Shelton Brooks and his wife, Hazel.Caroline's legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.A memorial service to honor the life of Caroline will be announced at a future date.
