Brenda Kay Murray

August 24, 1956 - June 21, 2024

It is with great sadness that the family of Brenda Kay Murray announces her unexpected passing on Friday June 21st at the age of 67.

Brenda will be dearly missed by her daughters Angelica Marie Mitchell (Doug) of Manassas VA and Natalya Noel Murray of Harrisonburg VA and her three grandchildren Tyler, Ayden, and Kyla along with her companion, Luis Antunes. Brenda will also be lovingly remembered by her three brothers Ashby Murray III (Dianne) of St. Augustine FL, Robert Murray (Margie) of Luray VA, Frank Murray (Katherine) of Crescent City, FL and one sister Dawn Tusing (Dwight) of Fulks Run VA.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ashby Murray II and Charlotte Murray of Mount Crawford VA. Brenda was born in Harrisonburg VA. At the age of three, she packed up her diaper bag and moved with her family to Manassas VA. In the 70's, if you were on a CB, you may have known her by her handle "Dough Girl." A name she was proud to own because of her time spent working at Manassas Bakery. Brenda was a member of the graduating class of 1974 from Osbourn High School. In 2001, she moved back to Harrisonburg to be closer to her parents.

Brenda was a kind, caring, free spirited person. Someone who always rooted for the underdog and was quick to defend those who were unable to defend themselves. She had a heart bigger than most. Brenda cherished her grandchildren, spending time with them brought her immense happiness. She loved creating activities they could all do together. Her greatest joy was her daughters, who she was immensely proud of and loved to the moon and back. Brenda was a master storyteller; she could enthrall you for hours with her wit and humor. She loved making people laugh and feel at home. She had the type of personality that made her hard to forget. If you ever knew or met Brenda, you know that she never met a stranger, and you had a friend for life.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 20th from 1:30 to 6pm in Manassas at Angelica's home.
