Brandon Joseph Sandy, 29, of Gerrardstown, WV passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2023, as a result of injuries sustained in an auto accident. 

A celebration of life service for Brandon will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Cornerstone United Pentecostal Church, 189 Parson Ct., Winchester, VA 22603 with Pastor Jeff Dillon officiating.  Burial will follow in Mt. Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, VA.   A time of food and fellowship will follow at Back Seat Events, 114 Full House Drive Winchester VA 22603.

The family will receive friends at Cornerstone United Pentecostal Church on Friday, January 5, 2024, from 6-8 p.m.  Brandon’s favorite color was blue, and everyone is encouraged to wear blue in memory of Brandon.

Brandon was born in Winchester, VA on March 23, 1994, a son of David Henry and Brenda Jean Davis Sandy.  Brandon was a 2012 graduate of Martinsburg High School.  He was a loyal and devoted member of Cornerstone United Pentecostal Church where he served in ministry, primarily as Youth Pastor for the last seven years, but also in many other capacities.  He had recently transferred to the Executive Youth Pastor position.  Brandon also served on the Virginia District United Pentecostal Church’s Youth Ministry Team.  On Sunday, December 24, 2023, Brandon led pre-service prayer, led the Christmas Eve church service, read the Christmas story as a part of the service, and assisted in serving Communion.  Serving Cornerstone UPC was his passion and heartbeat.  Brandon was instrumental in establishing the P7 Club at Musselman High School, which has currently grown to around 60 members.  

Brandon worked as an Information Technology Specialist for the Internal Revenue Service, where he excelled and was being transitioned into a management position.  An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and all types of sports, particularly WVU, Atlanta Braves, Miami Heat, and the Pittsburgh Steelers.  Brandon was a family man who loved spending time with his wife and beloved son Asher and was looking forward to the birth of their second son in April. 

Brandon was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Russell Frank and Helen Faye Wright Sandy and his maternal grandmother Ruth Ann Todd Swiger and husband Alfred James Swiger.

In addition to his parents, Brandon is survived by his loving wife Makayla Nichole McPhee Sandy; his son Asher Nathaniel Sandy; his brother Mike Sandy (Maddie); his father and mother-in-law Kurt and Kassandra McPhee; brothers-in-law, KJ McPhee (Natasha), Noah McPhee (Haylea); his nephews Emrick, Clark, Alexander “Lex”, Oliver “Ollie” and a niece Emberlynn, along with his maternal grandfather James Kenneth Davis (Patty) and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The pallbearers will be Zane Wells, Ashton Austin, Samuel Vaughn, Zach Sandy, Gilbert Guel, Mike Sandy, Noah McPhee, and Isaac Angeles.

Honorary pallbearers will be KJ McPhee, John Tyler Sandy, Brandon Hartzell, Seth Burns, Bucky Bailey, Liam Buhr, Zayne Parkey, Daniel Jones, Shane McCracken, Jordan Easter, Mark Rand, Travis Worthington, David Rouch, and Joshua Overton.

The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to Cornerstone United Pentecostal Church, Brandon Sandy Memorial Fund.
