Bonnie Moore (Sheets) Mitts Swisher
Bonnie Moore (Sheets) Mitts Swisher, 84, widow of Tommy Lee Swisher, of Waynesboro passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at her residence.
Mrs. Swisher was born on July 14, 1940 in Fort Defiance, Virginia, a daughter of the late Homer Frederick and Merle Anna (Moore) Sheets.
Bonnie was a lifelong member of Middle River Church of the Brethren, retired as the salon manager of Boyd’s Hairdressers of Waynesboro, and was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, cross-stitching, crossword puzzles, and playing the piano. Bonnie also enjoyed studying her family’s genealogy.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Garland Frederick Sheets; a sister, Mary Jane Good; and a step-daughter, Sandra Kaye Cole.
Surviving are two sons, Earl W. “Wayne” Mitts, Jr. (Pauline) and Randall Moore Mitts (Schlia); a daughter, Alicia M. Fitzgerald (Jody); a step-son, Tommy Scott Swisher (Bethanee); a sister, Anne Rebecca Reid; grandchildren, Jason Mitts (Chrissy), Andrew Mitts; step-grandchildren, Cody Swisher (Raven), Taylor Wilcher (Tyler), Jessica McCray and her daughter, Breckyn, Matt McCray (Danielle), Nicholas Cole; numerous great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2024, in the Middle River Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Fort Defiance by Pastor Lee Thomas.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton, is in charge of her arrangements.
