Barbara Raynes Stroop

Barbara Raynes Stroop, 80, of Grottoes, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.

She was born on March 29, 1945, and was a daughter of the late Prentice Davis and Sadie (Herring) Raynes.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and babysitter. She is a child of God. She and our father had an eternal love for each other and now they are together again. Barbara was united in marriage on May 1, 1964, to Roger Stroop who preceded her in death.

Barbara is survived by her children, Lorenda (Jeff) Gauronski, and Jeremy (Tracey) Stroop; her grandsons, Trevor J. and Zachary D. Gauronski; brothers, Prentice (Phyllis) Raynes, Calvin (Becky) Raynes, and Donald Raynes; sisters, Brenda (Billy) Hoover, and Valeria Rhodes. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews. In addition, she is survived by her bonus family, Jamie and Stephanie Housden, and their children, Jessica, Gracie and Jacob.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Thomas and Herbert Raynes; sisters, Wanda Lake, Ruby Lutz, and Dianna Raynes.

She was a longstanding member of Mt. Vernon Mennonite Church.

The family will receive friends from 6 -8 PM, on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Grottoes.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Port Republic Mutual Cemetery, with Pastor Greg Stenson officiating.
