Arlie Wolfe
Arlie Lee Wolfe, 79, of Middlebrook, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, March 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, at home.
He was born in Bath County on April 25, 1946 to the late Jesse Wolfe and Janetta Hull Wolfe.
Arlie worked at Cars For Less as a mechanic and later retired from Henry’s Funeral Home as a maintenance man. He served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he received a Bronze Star and Vietnam Service Medal.
Arlie had a farmer’s heart and loved living on his farm in the mountains. His love for cutting wood was his kind of vacation. No tree was safe around him. He loved the Lord with a sincerity that guided his choices, shaped his character, and touched everyone who crossed his path. His faith wasn’t something he spoke about loudly—it was something he lived, humbly and consistently.
Family was the center of his world. Whether he was offering a steady hand, a listening ear, a word of encouragement, or finding mushrooms for anyone who was unable to hunt them. He had a servant’s heart and was always found helping the elderly and children. He showed his love through action. He was the one people called when something broke, when someone needed help, or when life felt too heavy. And he always showed up—no hesitation, no complaint.
A true outdoors man, Arlie felt closest to God under open skies and in the mountains. His love for the mountains gained him his nickname "Mountain Goat". He found joy in the simple beauties of the world: early mornings in the woods at his favorite hunting spot, out on the farm with his cows, and long days spent working with his hands. There was little he couldn’t fix, build, or figure out. If something needed doing, he did it.
Those who knew him will remember his generosity, his steady presence, and the way he made life better just by being in it. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering love. He had a contagious smile, the kind that made you forget what you were worried about. He attended the Deerfield Church of God and would witness to anyone who would listen.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Mary Katherine Wolfe; brothers, Roy, Donnie and Isaac Wolfe; sisters, Violet Andrews and Betty Howe; half-brothers, Jesse L., Fredrick H. and Henry W.
