Arlene Lydia Kinat Schaffrick Blaskowski

Arlene Lydia Kinat Schaffrick Blaskowski died at age 92 on April 25, 2024. She was the youngest of four children born to Lydia Dey and Adolph Kinat in Bristol, Connecticut.

Arlene attended Central Connecticut State University to receive her BA in secondary business education and later her M.Ed. and was a long-time business education teacher at Simsbury High School in Simsbury, CT, where she raised her family. She was also an active member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Avon, CT, until she relocated to Virginia in 2006 to live near her daughter, Susan Warner, and youngest grandson, Joshua Warner. She then became involved in the Muhlenberg Lutheran Church community in Harrisonburg, VA, where she enjoyed working as a Stephen Minister.

Arlene was the wife of the late Robert F. Schaffrick, with whom she had three daughters-Peggy McNiece (Ian-deceased), Susan Warner (Mark), and Cathy Jones-deceased (Doug). In 1972, she remarried Henry J. Blaskowski (deceased), who had three sons-Thomas Blaskowski (Sara), Michael Blaskowski (Katie Joe), and John Blaskowski-deceased (Kathy). Along with her 4 living children, Arlene also leaves 9 grandchildren (Bob, Kelley, Joe, Meghan, Stephen, Sean, Evan, Caitlin, and Joshua), 1 step-grandson, 2 step-granddaughters, 9 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, including Carlye Case and Allyson Booth-devoted family members.

Along with spending time with her large family, Arlene enjoyed road trips with her friends, traveling, playing setback, and rooting for the Boston Red Sox.

A memorial service will be held at Muhlenberg Lutheran Church in Harrisonburg, VA at 2:00 p.m. on May 18, 2024. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
