Ann "Mawmaw" Coyner (Patterson) Shultz
Ann Coyner “Mawmaw” (Patterson) Shultz, 77, wife of Fred Allen Shultz, of Mt. Crawford, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026 at Bellaire at Stone Port in Harrisonburg.
Mrs. Shultz was born in Lexington, Virginia on October 20, 1948, a daughter of the late William Frank Patterson, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (Coyner) Patterson.
Ann was a devoted member of Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren, where she found great joy in teaching Sunday school. She was a graduate of James Madison University and later retired from Rockingham County Public Schools, where she spent many years as a beloved math teacher. In her spare time, Mrs. Shultz enjoyed cross-stitch, sewing, baking, and tending to her flower gardens. Above all, she treasured time with her family, especially being with her grandsons.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of 57 years, is a son, Gregg A. Shultz and his wife, Gayle of Staunton; a daughter, Elizabeth “Beth” Shultz of Mt. Crawford; a brother, William Frank Patterson, Jr. of Raphine; a sister, Mary Tate Kenneally of Haymarket; six grandchildren, Garret Shultz, Grant Shultz and his wife, Alisha, G.W. Shultz, Will Childs, Ben Childs, and Luke Childs; and a great-grandson, Wesley Grant Shultz.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2026 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2026 at Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren by Pastor Harry Jarrett.
Burial will be private in the church cemetery.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
