Alberta Wade
Alberta Edith (Rose) Wade beloved, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend gained her wings on Wednesday , December 26, 2024after a brief illness at Augusta Medical Center with family by her side.She was born on September 8, 1933 to the late Lucy Rose and Albert “Chuck” Ross.
Alberta completed her education at Augusta County Training School where she attended until the 8th grade. She accepted her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Morning Star Baptist Church, where she served as secretary in her early years and sang in the choir. She also had dual membership at Union Baptist Church for some time and sang with the Spiritual Lights Choir. She worked as a housekeeper and was a caregiver for many years for her grandchildren whom she loved and adored. She was known for her flawless skin, fashion, hospitality, cooking, and love of yard sales and thrift stores.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Al Wade; son, Albert Wade; daughter in-law, Diane Wade; brother, Leroy Rose, and special friend, James Harris
She leaves to cherish her memory and carry on her legacyher children, Beverly Johnson, Kay Wade (Paul), John Wade, and Winfred Wadel; bonus children, Angel Woodard, Ava Sheffey, Leroy Carter, Bernard Johnson;brother, Marcellus Rose; sister-in-law, Sylvia (Mae) Wade;grandchildren, Sheree Parker-Barney (Tony), Lamont Sheffey (Desire’), Cevi Wade, Alta Louise Wade, Amy Woodard, and Tiara Ellis(Rob);14 great-grandchildren, Damien, Griffin (Regina), Christopher, Raesaun, Dariel, Leon, Gregory, Avah D, Joshua, Diane, Dylan, Kathleen, Tyson, and Tyler.; special nieces, who were like daughters, Delores Winston (George),Barbara Jean Wade, and Tee McCarthy; along with a host of other nieces and nephews.
A special “Thank you “to her eldest granddaughter, Sheree Parker- Barney for taking over all her affairs.As well as a special “Thanks” to her caregiver, Nakia Wade for all that she did so that Alberta was able to live on her own until the age of 91. And to her prior caregivers, Margie Jones-Terrell and ArleneGolden. Thank you to the staff at Augusta Health and Rehab for making her last few months easy and enjoyable.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Restoration Ministries. Burial will follow at Morning Star Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held from 5pm until 7pm on Friday, January 3, 2025 at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers , please consider making item or monetary donations in memory of Alberta to the Salvation Army and Valley Mission Thrift Store.
