Jacqueline Grove Towers
Jacqueline Grove Towers, 96, of Bridgewater, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at the Bridgewater Retirement Community.
She was born on December 12, 1929 and was a daughter of Lurty Long and Zelma Kent (Rusmisel) Grove.
On June 10, 1950, Jacqueline was united in marriage to Clayton Nathaniel Towers who preceded her in death on October 6, 2017.
Jacqueline graduated from Beverly Manor High School and Bridgewater College. During and after college, she taught at Deerfield and Bridgewater elementary schools. She returned to teaching in 1966, and taught 1st grade at Pleasant Valley Elementary for 25 years.
In retirement, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She also loved to quilt, and donated many quilts and wall hangings to charity.
Jacqueline is survived by children, James Towers, Susan (David) Anhold, Jane Towers; brother, Ed (Melody) Grove; sisters, Bonnie Grove, Connie (Brian) Brown; grandchildren, Jodie (Matt) Sprayberry, Jenna Menge, Ben (Susie) Anhold, Matt (Arlene) Anhold, Emily (Mike) Hudson; great grandchildren, Sam Sprayberry, Jacqueline Sprayberry, Christopher Menge, Jonas Menge, Colton Menge, Jacob Anhold, Aubrey Anhold, Taylor Anhold, Beckett Anhold, Maddox Hudson
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Eugene Grove.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM, on Friday, October 23rd at Bridgewater Church of the Brethren. Family will receive friends after the service. Burial will be private.
Family and friends may sign the guest book and pay their respects between 10 AM - 5 PM on Thursday, October 22, 2026 at Johnson Funeral & Cremation Service in Bridgewater.
In lieu of flowers, donationns can be made to Bridgewater Church of the Brethren, Bridgewater Retirement Community, or Bridgewater Volunteer Rescue Squad.
