Gene E. Holcomb

Verlin "Gene" Eugene Holcomb, 64, of Bridgewater, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026.

He was born on July 19, 1962, and was a son of Verlin and Barbara (Keith) Holcomb. He was a brother to the late William Rodger "Billy" Holcomb, and a sister, Sherry Holcomb, and is survived by a sister, Sheila Daily of GA.

Gene retired from Houff Transfer after over 27 years. He loved the Lord, his country, his family, and his Harley motorcycle.

Gene was united in marriage for over 35 years to Lora (Cook) Holcomb, who preceded him in death on Jan. 6, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Loretta (Vandevander) Mitchell and Larry Cook, Sr. She is survived by siblings, Larry Eugene Cook, Jr., Lacinda Wine, Lucas (Ranita) E. Cook, Roberta (Gary) Keppel, and Paul (Jody) Cook.

Together, they are also survived by four children, Melissa (Jonathan) Hedrick, Jessica (Raymond) Holcomb, Roy Eppard, Jr, and Ray Eppard; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews; and preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Muck.

A graveside service celebrating Gene's life will be held at 3 PM on Monday, September 28, 2026 at Briery Branch Church of the Brethren Cemetery, with Pastor Lucas Cook officiating.
