James Millard Dooms

June 15, 1959 - September 13, 2026

James Millard Dooms, 67, of Waynesboro, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2026 in Greene County, Virginia. He was born June 15, 1959 in Waynesboro, Virginia, son of the late Charles Albert Dooms and the late Anna Frances Dooms.

James was a 1979 graduate of Wilson Memorial High School. He was employed fulltime at Kroger from 1976 until his retirement in 2021 and he is a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose.

He was known as the ‘’Mayor of Dooms” and James was always there to lend a helping to anyone who needed anything.

James enjoyed riding his Harley and Harley shops and antique shops. He was keenly interested in anything Civil War related and junk of any kind. And his best talent was being there for everyone, Spankie Club, farming, chasing cattle and he enjoyed going to old car and truck shows.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to the lady riding behind him on Sunday, especially for her quick call to 911 and for sticking around with James afterward. Also, a special thanks to the Rescue Squad for their quick response during his medical emergency.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by both of his brothers, Tommy and Dorsey and his divorced wife, Robin Dooms.

Survivors include his significant other of 25 years, Pat Gilley; his son, James Brandon Dooms and his only “Grand puppy”, Ripley; his cousin/Mom, Bettie Ann Shiflett and good friend, Donnie Brogan; his friends, Mark Haynes, Shane Davis, Danny Reede, David Kenny Murphy Campbell and everyone he ever met.

James never met a person he didn’t consider a friend, never said no to a friend in need.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, September 19, 2026 in the Chapel of Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Drive, Fishersville, with his family and friends officiating.

His cremated remains will be spread on his beloved Family Farm.
