Edwin Gale Hottel
Edwin Gale Hottel, 75, of Harrisonburg, Virginia passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2026 at his home.
He was born on March 1, 1951, and was a son of the late Luther and Bernice (Riddleberger) Hottel.
Ed was a 1969 graduate of Turner Ashby High School, and retired from Reynolds Metals after over 33 years of service. He was an avid golfer and charter member of the Heritage Oaks golf course. He had a passion for singing, and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a lifelong member of Mt. Crawford United Methodist Church.
Ed was united in marriage on Sept. 25, 1999 to Susan (Lightner) Hottel, who survives.
Ed is also survived by two children, Rebecca (Stephen) Hanson, and Benjamin (Bobbiejo) Hottel; siblings, Nancy (Julio) Fleischman, and L.B. (Sandy) Hottel, Jr; six grandchildren, Amber (Ed) Fenwick, Matthew (Jasmine) Hottel, Kaitlyn Hottel, Ava Hanson, and Nicolas Hanson; three great-grandchildren; a niece, Carissa Alexander; nephews, Cliff Shiflet, Chris (Pam) Shiflet, Andrew (Trish) Fleischman, and Paul (Natcha) Fleischman.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Amy Hottel, and a sister, Sandra Hottel.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:30 PM on Friday, Sept. 18, 2026, at Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Bridgewater.
A service celebrating Ed's life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 19th at 11 AM at Mount Crawford United Methodist Church, with Rev. Russell Heinrich officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Crawford Cemetery.
