Anna Monceaux
Anna Monceaux, 79, of Palmyra, Virginia, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on July 8, 1947, in Groves, Texas, Anna graduated from Port Neches-Groves High School before earning her associate's degree from Victor Valley Community College in California. After residing in Lafayette, Louisiana, for several years, Anna returned to Virginia in 2009 with her mother, Mildred, to be closer to her sons, Christopher and Jonathan, and their growing families.
Anna devoted many years to raising her family as a stay-at-home mother before later working as a caregiver with Home Instead and at the University of Virginia in the Department of Parking and Transportation, where she especially enjoyed the friendships she made with her coworkers.
Anna's greatest joy came from having her family together. She had a warm smile that could brighten a room and was always genuinely happy to see those she loved. Outgoing, welcoming, and blessed with a wonderful sense of humor, she had a gift for making people feel at home.
She enjoyed quilting and sewing and took pride in creating things by hand. She was happiest, however, when surrounded by family, whether she was cooking a meal, playing Rummikub, or simply spending time together. Her homemade gumbo was a family favorite, and many cherished memories were made around her table sharing meals, laughter, movies, and board games.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Alton and Mildred Duplechain. Anna is survived by her sons, Christopher Monceaux and his wife, Tamara, and Jonathan Monceaux and his wife, Sarah; her treasured grandchildren, Vivian, Evelyn, and Riley; and the father of her children, Murphy Monceaux.
In accordance with Anna's wishes, she will be cremated, and her family will gather privately to celebrate her life and the many memories they shared together.
Anna will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy lives on in the love she shared, the family she cherished, and the countless memories created whenever everyone was together.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, Fishersville, Virginia.
