Maj. Kenneth A. Taylor, Sr.

Major Kenneth Allen Taylor, Sr., 83, of Lyndhurst, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 17, 2026, at the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah House in Fishersville. He was born on February 8, 1943, in Alleghany, the son of the late John Allen and Viola Roberts Taylor. Kenneth dedicated his career to military service, serving his country in the United States Army. A paratrooper with the famed 82nd Airborne Division, he rose through the ranks to achieve the rank of Major. His years of faithful service reflected his unwavering sense of duty, discipline, and commitment to his country. He will be remembered as a proud veteran and as a man of strong convictions. His legacy lives on in his children, grandchildren, and in the deep friendships he cultivated. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Dell Withers Taylor; his son, Kenneth Allen Taylor, Jr.; his daughters, Sarah Kate Nicholas and her husband, Evan, and Courtney Taylor Fitzgerald; his grandchildren, John Fitzgerald and Asher and Haiden Nicholas; and a sister, Mary Lynn Taylor Barksdale and her husband, Andy; her nephew and nieces, Drew Barksdale, Debbie Watkins, Meredith Sawyer; and numerous great-nieces nieces and nephews. Inurnment at Arlington National Cemetery will be private.
