Genevieve Beulah Smith

Genevieve Beulah Smith, 80, of Harrisonburg, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at Sentara RMH Medical Center.

She was born on May 2, 1946, and was a daughter of the late Boyd and Minnie (Moats) Howdyshell.

Genevieve loved to cook, and was a member of Emmanuel Church of the Brethren.

Genevieve is survived by five children, Roger Howdyshell of Mt Solon, Edgar (Jerrica Miller) Howdyshell of Mt. Solon, Donald (Leafy) Smith of Dayton, Edward (Jennifer) Smith of Mt Solon, and Timothy (Patricia Bradley) Smith of Mt Solon; brothers, James (Stella) Howdyshell of Mt Solon, Otha (Liz) Howdyshell of Mt Solon, and Charles (Brenda) Howdyshell of Mt Solon; sisters, Ola Moats of Mt Solon, Wilma Shifflett of Harrisonburg, and Rosa (Larry) Sheffer of Mt Solon. twelve grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, John Howdyshell.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Bridgewater.

A service celebrating Genevieve's life will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, July 2nd, at the funeral home, with Pastor William Staton officiating. Burial will follow at Emmanuel Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
