Jeffrey "Jeff" Forbis, Sr. Obituary
Jeffrey “Jeff” Ray Forbis, Sr., 63, of Afton, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at the Shenandoah House of Augusta Health, Fishersville. He was born August 14, 1962 in Greensboro, North Carolina, son of Winfred Ray Forbis and the late Georgia Paulette Forbis.
Jeff was a graduate of Southern Alamance High School and a self–employed contractor and master carpenter. Jeff was a member of Hope Community Church of Waynesboro and he enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, picnics and spending time with his family, especially his four boys.
Survivors include his father, Winfred Ray Forbis of Liberty, North Carolina; his best friend and life partner, Cynthia S. Lam, who stood by his side as a steadfast and devoted caregiver thru these last 4 years of his cancer journey and with him to the very end; his four sons, Jeffrey Ray Forbis, Jr. and his wife Ashley Forbis of Burlington, North Carolina, Jeffrey Michael Forbis of Waynesboro, Seth Lane Forbis and his girlfriend, Olivia Williams of Afton and Caleb Ray Forbis of Afton; his grandchildren, Paisley Forbis, Arabella Forbis, Liam Forbis and Jeff’s “Dog”, Scrappy and his significant other’s German Shepherd, “Indy”; his brother, Carlton Forbis and his wife, Judy Forbis of Sea Grove, North Carolina, family friends, Brandon Fitzgerald and Isiah Mann and his special friends, Walden Hatton, Daniel Simmons and Ken Surber.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Legacy Hospice of Charlottesville, Diane Kudro, RN, Case Manager and on call nurse, Elaine; Augusta Health Cancer, formal Medical Director, Dr. Hidley; UVA Cancer Center, Dr. Remn, Dr.Herndon and nurse, Chelsea and Augusta Health - Shenandoah Hospice House, especially Dr. Heck and the exceptional team of nurses.

A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 pm, Monday, July 6, 2026 at Hope Community Church of Waynesboro, 2910 W. Main St., Waynesboro, lead by The Rev. Dr. C. Brown Caldwell and The Rev. Dr. Glen A. Holman.
The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 pm until the hour of the service.
There will be refreshments following the service.
